Love me, love me not

Effeuiller la marguerite

Remember those languid afternoons, delicately plucking slender, innocent daisy petals “Charlie loves me [petal], Charlie loves me not [another petal]”.

Needless to say, this game is French and its purpose is to determine whether the object of the player’s desires loves them and to what extent:  un peu "a little”; beaucoup "a lot"; passionnément "passionately"; à la folie "madly"; or pas du tout "not at all."

This vexing question has troubled all of us more than once.

Fortunately, in the game the phrase said as the last petal is plucked denotes the answer!
